The 100 Gallon Chem-Tainer Cone Bottom Tank with Poly Stand (SKU TC3148JP) is a closed-top, cone-bottom polyethylene tank molded in natural white and shipped on a matching poly stand so the cone drains fully without a separate steel frame. It holds 100 gallons in a 31" diameter footprint and stands 48" tall on its stand, with an empty weight of 80 lb. It comes with an 8" threaded vented lid up top and a 1.5" outlet at the cone tip. Chem-Tainer rates this tank to a 1.9 specific gravity, so it carries dense chemistry that thinner-walled water tanks cannot. It is FDA approved.
Will it hold your product
Size around weight, not just gallons. Filled with plain water this tank carries about 834 lb; loaded to its full 1.9 SG rating the contents alone reach roughly 1,585 lb, and adding the 80 lb tank-and-stand weight puts about 1,665 lb gross on the stand feet and the slab beneath them. Design your pad to that number, not to the gallon count. Run your fluid through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before you commit. The cone geometry is the point of this vessel: it drains solids and slurries toward the 1.5" outlet instead of leaving a heel in a flat floor. If you are weighing cone angles or thinking through where the vent, fill, and drain fittings sit, see the 30° vs 45° drainage comparison and the tank-top fitting placement guide. Because it arrives on a stand, also review the poly vs steel stand decision tree and the stand compatibility matrix. Refer to the technical drawing on this page for exact port and stand dimensions.
Chemical compatibility
This tank is polyethylene rated to 1.9 specific gravity. The resin is HDLPE-class, but confirm HDLPE vs XLPE with us before chemical service — the resin code carries a "?" and the wrong resin fails under the wrong chemistry. Compatibility below is drawn from the Snyder Industries OEM chemical resistance chart and is concentration- and temperature-specific; verify your exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and fitting plus gasket material before ordering. At the full 1.9 SG rating this tank is suited to Ethylene Glycol (100%, PVC fittings/EPDM), Ferric Chloride (50%, PVC/EPDM), Ferric Sulfate (60%, PVC/EPDM), Hydrochloric Acid (37%, PVC/Viton), Hydrofluoric Acid (48%, PP or PVC/Viton), Hydrofluosilicic Acid (26%, PP or PVC/Viton), Hydrogen Peroxide (50%, PVC/Viton), Peracetic Acid (30%, 316SS/Aflas), Phosphoric Acid (85%, PVC/Viton), Polyaluminum Chloride (PVC/EPDM), Potassium Carbonate (50%, PVC/EPDM), Potassium Hydroxide (saturated, PVC/EPDM), Propylene Glycol (PP or 316SS/EPDM), Sodium Bisulfate and Sodium Bisulfite (PVC or PP/EPDM), Sodium Hypochlorite (bleach, <16.5% only, PVC/Viton), Sodium Thiosulfate (40%, PVC/EPDM), Sulfuric Acid (98%, CPVC/Viton), and Zinc Orthophosphate (PP or 316SS/EPDM). Lower-SG chemistry it also handles includes Acetic Acid (60%), Aluminum Sulfate (50%), Calcium Chloride (40%), DEF (32.5%, 316SS/EPDM), Ferrous Sulfate (20%), Magnesium Chloride (30%), Sodium Carbonate (30%), Urea Solution (50%), and Ozonated Water (up to 10 PPM, PVC/EPDM). Match fitting and gasket material to your chemical from the list, cross-check every candidate against our Chemical Compatibility Database, and note the DEF and urea entries call for 316SS or PP fittings, not brass.
The mistake to avoid
Do not spec the tank without spec'ing the fittings and gasket to the chemical. This tank ships with a bare 1.5" outlet — no bulkhead, gasket, or valve is included, so the wetted hardware is yours to source and confirm against your chemical's row above. The most common silent failures on a cone-bottom chem tank are a Viton-service acid (hydrochloric, sulfuric) run on an EPDM gasket; peracetic acid run on Viton or EPDM instead of the Aflas gasket and 316SS fittings it actually needs; and a DEF or urea job run on brass or plated hardware where 316SS or PP is required. Watch the bleach ceiling too: sodium hypochlorite is covered only up to 16.5% — do not spec this tank for 12.5%-and-up concentrated bleach without confirming with us first. Settle the HDLPE-vs-XLPE resin question with us, then lock the fitting and gasket material to your chemical before you order.
