Chemical compatibility
This is a polyethylene tank rated to 1.5 specific gravity. The resin is recorded as HDLPE but not yet confirmed, so verify HDLPE versus XLPE with us before putting any chemical in it. At the 1.5 rating, this tank handles Acetic Acid (60%), Aluminum Sulfate (50%), Calcium Chloride (40%), Ferrous Sulfate (20%), Magnesium Chloride (30%), Sodium Carbonate (30%), Urea Solution (50%), and Ozonated Water (up to 10 PPM). DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) at 32.5% is the one to call out separately: it is compatible at this SG rating but requires 316 stainless fittings with EPDM gaskets, not the PVC most of the others use. Match your fittings and gaskets to the chemical: most run PVC fittings with EPDM gaskets, while Acetic Acid and Urea Solution call for PP or PVC fittings. The mistake to avoid
The most common error with this tank is overloading the 1.5 SG rating with a denser chemical. Heavier liquids need the 1.9 specific gravity version of this tank, not this one. That higher-SG list includes Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Peracetic Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Bisulfate, Sodium Bisulfite, Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Thiosulfate, Sulfuric Acid, and Zinc Orthophosphate. If you are hauling any of those, do not use this 1.5 SG tank. The gasket spec also shifts: several move to Viton, such as Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Sulfuric Acid (which also moves to CPVC fittings), and Sodium Hypochlorite, while peracetic acid goes further to 316SS fittings with an Aflas gasket.
