The Bushman 730 Gallon Dark Brown Rainwater Collection Storage Tank is a polyethylene water storage tank built for rainwater harvesting and general above-ground water storage. At 730 gallons in a 74-inch by 74-inch footprint and 56 inches tall, it holds a full water load of 6,088 pounds, and its dark brown color helps it blend into residential and rural settings while limiting light penetration that encourages algae growth. This is a water storage tank rated to a specific gravity of 1.0, sized for collecting and holding water and not for chemical or slurry service.
Will it work for your site
The tank stands 56 inches high on a square 74.0 x 74.0 inch base, which is a footprint of roughly 6.5 feet square, so clear and level a pad at least that size to fully support the bottom. Full of water, the tank and its contents reach a maximum rated weight of 6,088 pounds, and that is the load to design your slab and any anchoring around. For a pour under a tank this size, our concrete pad sizing guide walks through the ACI 360R-10 framework so the foundation matches the load. Keep in mind that 6,088 pounds is contents-driven: empty, the tank ships LTL and is forklift and strap handleable, but once full it must stay put, so site it where it will live before you fill it. If you are still deciding between sizes, the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide help you match capacity to your roof catchment and demand.
Fittings and configuration
Per the technical drawing on this page, this tank comes with a single 1-inch bulkhead fitting (part 60427). That one port is the only factory tie-in, so plan for it: there is no separate inlet, outlet, or overflow built in, which means your draw-off and any overflow routing run through or alongside that 1-inch bulkhead. Many buyers tee off it or add a manifold downstream, and you should confirm placement against the technical drawing before ordering valves and adapters. A bulkhead is only watertight with its gasket properly seated, so have the bulkhead gasket and a thread or pipe adapter sized to the 1-inch port on hand before you plumb the draw-off. For a rainwater system, this bulkhead is the tie-in point for piping collected water out to use.
Rainwater harvesting use
For a Bushman rainwater collection setup, the front of the system matters as much as the tank. A first-flush diverter keeps the initial dirty roof-wash out of your stored water; our guide on first-flush diverter sizing per the Texas Manual on Rainwater Harvesting covers how to size that for your roof area. Because this tank is rated to a specific gravity of 1.0, treat that as a firm ceiling: store water only, and do not put anything denser than water in it. If this tank is part of a broader water-reuse plan combining rainwater with grey-water or HVAC condensate, the water reuse tank topology guide shows how to band storage by quality. For rural fire-protection storage, see our fire-water reservoir design guide for NFPA 22 sizing discipline.
