The Enduraplas 450 Gallon Dark Green Vertical Water Storage Tank is a polyethylene vertical water tank built for above-ground bulk storage where you need real volume on a tight footprint. It holds 450 gallons inside a 40-inch by 40-inch base and stands 94 inches tall, so it stores water without sprawling across a pad. The dark green color cuts light penetration to slow algae growth in outdoor service, and the tank carries a 1.1 specific gravity rating, meaning it is engineered for liquids up to 1.1 times the weight of water.

Will it work for your site?

Start with the weight math, because that is what determines your pad and your placement. Filled with water, this tank carries 3,753 pounds of contents; at its maximum rated 1.1 specific gravity, it is built for up to 4,128 pounds. That load sits on a 40.0 x 40.0 inch footprint, so the bearing surface under it has to be flat, level, and continuous. The 94-inch height makes this a vertical storage tank for hauled water, irrigation supply, and rainwater capture. It also fits water-reuse duty — grey-water, rainwater, and HVAC-condensate aggregation — where a tall, quality-banded vessel earns its keep; our water-reuse tank topology guide covers how these tanks sequence into a reuse train. If you are deciding between this and another capacity, run the numbers through our Tank Sizing Calculator and read the Tank Sizing Guide first. For fitting locations and exact dimensional callouts, see the technical drawing on this page.

Pad, anchoring, and install discipline

A tank this tall is unforgiving of a bad foundation. At 94 inches on a 40-inch base, the height-to-width ratio is roughly 2.35 to 1, which means an empty or partially filled tank can be tippy in wind — plan your anchoring before the first fill, not after. The pad itself has to support the full 40 x 40 footprint with no voids and no slope, or the shell takes uneven stress as it fills. Our guide on concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks walks through the ACI 360R-10 framework for getting that base right. Once the tank is set, do not just put it into service — follow a proper hydrostatic test by filling with water in stages, monitoring pad settlement, and checking every fitting for leaks before the tank does any real work.

The mistake to avoid

The 1.1 specific gravity rating is a ceiling, not a guarantee for every liquid. This is a water storage tank, and that rating means it is suited for water and water-like liquids up to 1.1 SG. Do not assume it is rated for heavier chemical service — if your liquid is denser than 1.1 times water, this is the wrong tank and you need a higher-SG vessel; call us at 866-418-1777 before you buy so we can match the rating to your liquid. In cold-climate water service, also plan for freeze protection: a tall, narrow column of standing water is exposed, and ice expansion is a real failure mode. Our fire-water reservoir design guide covers NFPA 22 sizing and cold-climate freeze engineering if either applies to your install.
