The Norwesco 1000 Gallon Bruiser is a blue polyethylene underground liquid storage tank built to sit below grade and hold up to 1,000 gallons of water. It measures 102 inches long by 60 inches wide with a 63-inch height, giving it a 60 x 102-inch footprint in the excavation. Like every Norwesco multi-use storage tank, it ships LTL from the molding plant nearest you, so freight is the variable to plan around before you buy. This page answers the three things that actually decide the purchase: whether it fits your job, what it costs to get to your site, and the one mistake to avoid with a buried tank.

Will this Norwesco 1000 gallon underground tank work for your site?

This is a buried, multi-use storage tank rated for water and light liquids. The dimensions and full-water weight are what your excavation has to be engineered around:

  • Capacity: 1,000 gallons
  • Length: 102 in
  • Width: 60 in
  • Height: 63 in
  • Footprint: 60 x 102 in
  • Full water weight: ~8,340 lb

That ~8,340-pound full load means the dig, bedding, and backfill have to carry the tank plus surrounding soil and any traffic above. Confirm your dig depth against the 63-inch tank height plus the cover and riser you need to reach grade, and check the 102 x 60-inch footprint against your hole before you order. One spec to read carefully: this tank carries no specific-gravity rating, so it is for water and light liquids only — for any liquid heavier than water, ask us about a specific-gravity-rated tank rather than assuming "multi-use" covers it. If you are still deciding on capacity, run the numbers in our Tank Sizing Calculator or read the Tank Sizing Guide so the underground tank you bury matches your real draw. For rural and remote storage where this 1,000-gallon size often serves as fire-water reserve, our fire-water reservoir tank design guide covers NFPA 22 sizing discipline.

Freight: how this underground tank gets to you

This is a large, rigid polyethylene tank, so it moves by LTL freight on a pallet, quoted live to your ZIP. Norwesco molds the Bruiser at several plants, and we ship from the one nearest you to keep the haul short:

  • Griffin, GA
  • Lancaster, OH
  • Owego, NY
  • Shawnee, OK
  • St. Bonifacius, MN
  • Tooele, UT
  • Washougal, WA

Because the price you see is the tank only and freight is separate, get a real number for your address with our Freight Cost Estimator before you commit.

The mistake to avoid with an underground tank

The most expensive error here is treating an underground tank like an above-ground one. A buried tank lives or dies on its installation: proper bedding, even backfill, no point loads, and respecting the manufacturer's burial depth and groundwater limits. Review the technical drawing and the manufacturer's burial detail on this page before you dig, and confirm your inlet, outlet, and access riser locations and sizes with us up front — reaching a fitting after backfill means digging the tank back out. Plan those penetrations before the tank is in the ground, not after.

Ready to move? Confirm freight to your address with the Freight Cost Estimator, size your system with the Tank Sizing Calculator, and call our team at 866-418-1777 with your ZIP for an LTL quote from the nearest Norwesco plant.
