Where a 32 inch tall tank goes

Buy this shape when height is the constraint: under a workbench or a mezzanine, in a pickup bed under a closed tonneau, on a trailer that has to clear a barn door, or in a crawl space or low basement where a tall tank cannot stand. At 32 inches the top is at knee to thigh height, so plan a fill line or a pump rather than buckets. The weight sits low, so it rides on a vehicle better than any tall tank of the same capacity and does not rock when something clips it. The cost is floor: 45 inches across does not pass through a standard doorway, so it goes in before the wall goes up or through a double door. Full of water it puts about 1080 lb on a 45 inch circle, and a rotationally moulded base bears on everything it touches and nothing else, so it needs a flat, continuous surface under the whole base.

What goes in it

Water, liquid fertilizer, wash water and the treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. A 1.5 specific gravity rating means liquids up to 1.5 times the weight of water; concentrated acids and some brines are heavier and need a heavy duty tank. What to check before you buy

1. The fittings. Norwesco vertical tanks normally ship with a bulkhead fitting low in the wall and a threaded vented lid on top. Call us with the part number and we will confirm the outlet size and lid on this one before it ships, so the valve you buy threads straight in.
2. The doorway. 45 inches across. Measure the opening it has to pass through, including the turn at the top of any stairs.
3. The surface. Flat, level and continuous under the whole base: a slab, a solid deck or a full sheet of plywood over joists.
4. The valve. On a tank this low the outlet sits close to the floor. Plan where the valve handle will point so a hand can reach it, and support the pipe on its own.
