Who buys a 15000 gallon heavy duty tank
This is a plant tank: an ag retailer's UAN or liquid fertilizer storage, a chemical distributor, a municipal water or wastewater plant's bulk treatment chemical, or an industrial site with a dense process liquid. For plain water or a fire reserve, the standard duty 15000 does the same job with a thinner wall and a 3 year warranty. The tank is nearly fourteen feet across and about fifteen and a half feet tall, wide and comparatively low for its capacity, so it is an outdoor tank on an engineered slab with a fixed ladder or a platform to reach the manway, and almost always inside secondary containment. Full of water it puts about 63 tons on the pad, and nearly twice that with a liquid at 1.9. What goes in it
Liquid fertilizers, brines, many acids and bases, and water. The 1.9 rating is about weight, not chemistry: check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide before it goes in, and keep the contents under 120 F; polyethylene softens as it warms and the rating assumes that ceiling. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. Put a flexible connector between the tank and any rigid pipe: a tank this size grows measurably as it fills and a rigid line levers on the fitting. Support the valve on its own.
- Manway. A 22 inch threaded vented manway on top. The vent lets air move as the level changes; a transfer pump pulling against a plugged vent can collapse a wall.
- Inlet. No separate inlet is installed. Tell us before the order ships if you want a fill fitting at a set height; on a tank this tall it saves a climb every delivery.
