A 15500 gallon black heavy duty vertical tank for fertilizer, heavy chemicals and bulk water
The Norwesco 15500 gallon black heavy duty vertical storage tank, part number 43943B, is a rotomolded polyethylene tank 141 inches in diameter and 244 inches tall, weighing 4160 lb empty. Heavy duty means the wall is built for liquids up to 1.9 specific gravity, 1.9 times the weight of water, which is what liquid fertilizers and many concentrated chemicals need; 15500 gallons of water alone weighs 129270 lb, and a 1.9 liquid close to double that. It comes with a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting as the outlet and a 22 inch threaded vented manway on top. Who buys the heavy duty version
Fertilizer dealers, ag retailers, water treatment plants and chemical users buy the 1.9 tank because the liquid is heavy; a 1.5 tank filled with a 1.9 liquid is overloaded at the bottom of the wall where the pressure is highest. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your 2 inch valve threads straight in. On a tank this tall, the head pressure at the outlet is high, so use a valve rated for it and support the valve and the first run of pipe independently of the tank wall.
- Manway. A 22 inch threaded vented manway on top for filling, a level sensor and inspection access. The vent breathes as the level changes; keep it clear.
- The liquid. Polyethylene handles water, most fertilizers and many common chemicals, but not everything. Tell us what goes in and we check it against the material before the order ships.
- Height. At 244 inches, a shade over twenty feet, the tank needs that much clearance plus room above for the manway lid and for the lifting gear that sets it. Measure the overhead before you order.
