What to check before you buy
- The tank. 2635 or 3135, confirmed from the tank's own part number. Elliptical leg tanks of neighbouring sizes look alike from the ground and take different ladders; a ladder for the wrong shell lands on open wall instead of a leg or a rib.
- The adapter. On a 3135 the ladder may need Norwesco's adapter kit, sold separately. Ask us when you order so both arrive together.
- Room to fit it. The ladder is a 36 inch square in plan. It has to be offered up to the tank with room to stand behind it, which a tank parked tight against a wall or a fence does not give you.
- Access rules on your site. A fixed ladder on a tank is access equipment, and what it has to satisfy is decided by your site and whoever signs off the installation. Fitting it
Two people. Offer the ladder up with the tank empty, attach the hardware finger tight, and tighten only once the ladder sits where it will live, square to the tank and landing on a leg or a moulded rib rather than open wall. Climb it once empty and once with the tank full; the shell sits differently under load and a ladder that was plumb on an empty tank can lean on a full one.
