What to check before you buy

1. The tank. A riser has to match the opening on the tank it sits on. Tell us the tank part number and we confirm this riser fits before the order ships.
2. The depth to grade. Measure from the top of the tank opening to where the finished ground will be, after backfill and settlement, and divide by 12 inches to get the number of risers. Round up; a lid a little proud of grade is better than one buried under the lawn.
3. The lid. No lid is listed with this riser. Make sure the lid on your order matches the top of the riser stack and the traffic it will see.
4. Burial and loads. No burial depth or traffic rating is listed for this part. Keep vehicles off the riser unless the tank maker's documentation says otherwise, and ask us if the riser will sit in a drive.

Installing it

Dry-fit the riser stack on the tank opening before anything is sealed, and check that it stands plumb; a leaning stack will not take its lid squarely. Seal every joint the way Snyder's drawing shows, because a riser joint is where groundwater gets into the tank and where odour gets out. Backfill evenly around the stack in lifts rather than dumping on one side. Set the lid and open it once before the machine leaves the site.
