The Norwesco 100 Gallon Applicator Saddle Tank (SKU N-60204) is a white polyethylene tank built for mobile agricultural and applicator duty, where the saddle profile lets it ride a frame or trailer while carrying liquid to the field. It holds 100 gallons, weighs 36 pounds empty, and measures roughly 57" long by 24" wide by 28" high on a 24" diameter footprint. It carries a 1.5 specific gravity rating, an 8" lid, a 0.75" outlet, and an FDA-approved resin, with a maximum service temperature of 120 F (48 C).

Will it work for your load?

This is an applicator tank rated to a 1.5 specific gravity, so it is built to carry liquids heavier than water, which is exactly what fertilizer and applicator work demands.Water fills it to about 834 pounds; at the full 1.5 SG rating the tank is engineered for contents up to roughly 1,251 pounds.Use those numbers to size your frame, saddle mounts, and towing setup before you fill.If you are matching this tank to a specific blend or run, the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide convert gallons to real-world weight so you do not overload the axle. The 0.75" outlet and 8" fill lid are the plumbing points to plan your applicator lines around.Because this is a saddle tank riding a trailer, the DOT rules matter as much as the plumbing — our guides on the 49 CFR 173.5 agricultural exemption and DOT classification for farm-fleet use and on Norwesco applicator and leg tanks for fertilizer lay out where a farm applicator tank sits in the DOT scope.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is polyethylene rated to a 1.5 specific gravity. The resin is listed as HDLPE, but that entry is not fully confirmed, so verify HDLPE versus XLPE with us before putting any chemical in it.Compatibility below is drawn from the Snyder Industries OEM chemical-resistance chart, which is concentration- and temperature-specific; confirm your exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and the fitting and gasket materials before service.

At or under the 1.5 SG rating, this tank is listed as compatible with acetic acid (60%), aluminum sulfate (50%), calcium chloride (40%), DEF (32.5%), ferrous sulfate (20%), magnesium chloride (30%), sodium carbonate (30%), urea solution (50%), and ozonated water (up to 10 PPM — confirm this pairing with us before service). For fleets running DEF and urea, both sit under the tank's 1.5 rating with margin (each needs only a 1.5 SG tank), which makes this a comfortable fit for those blends.Note that DEF is the exception on hardware: it calls for 316SS fittings with an EPDM gasket, not the PVC or PP most of the others use.If you are blending fertilizer in this tank, watch for stratification — DEF, urea, and similar solutions can density-layer, and our fertilizer-blend stratification and mixing-protocol guide shows how to catch it before the spreader runs off-spec.

Some chemicals your operation may run need a higher-SG tank than this one.Ethylene glycol, ferric chloride, ferric sulfate, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrofluosilicic acid, hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid, phosphoric acid, polyaluminum chloride, potassium carbonate, potassium hydroxide, propylene glycol, sodium bisulfate, sodium bisulfite, sodium hypochlorite, sodium thiosulfate, sulfuric acid, and zinc orthophosphate all require a 1.5 SG tank, so do not put those in this 1.5-rated tank.If your service is one of those, call 866-418-1777 and we will match you to a 1.9-SG-rated tank; start at our chemical compatibility resource to confirm the pairing first.

The mistake to avoid

The biggest error on a saddle applicator tank is treating the 1.5 SG rating as a green light for any chemical. It is not.A heavy acid or oxidizer above that rating needs a higher-SG tank, and every chemical demands the correct fitting and gasket materials — PVC or PP with EPDM for most of the compatible list, 316SS with EPDM for DEF.Fittings and gaskets are not bundled with this tank; tell us your chemical and we will spec the right port and seal materials so you do not seat the wrong gasket.Confirm the resin (HDLPE vs XLPE), the SG, and the gasket before you load, and reference the technical drawing on this page for exact port and dimension placement.
