The Norwesco 200 Gallon Applicator Saddle Tank (SKU N-45061) is a white polyethylene specialty tank built for fertilizer and liquid-applicator duty on trailers and farm-fleet rigs.It holds 200 gallons, weighs 60 lb empty, and carries a 1.5 specific gravity rating with a max service temperature of 120 F / 48 C.The tank measures 47" long by 38" wide by 42" high for a 38.0 x 47.0 inch saddle footprint, and comes with an 8" lid and a 1.25" outlet. It is FDA approved, which is what clears it for food-grade and potable work as well as DEF handling rather than fertilizer alone.See the technical drawing on this page for port placement and saddle geometry before you plumb it, and call 866-418-1777 to confirm the resin (HDLPE vs XLPE) before any chemical service.

Will it handle your load

The 1.5 SG rating is what makes this an applicator tank rather than a plain water tank: it is engineered to carry contents heavier than water.Full of water (SG 1.0) the tank plus contents runs about 1,668 lb, roughly 1,608 lb of liquid on the 60 lb tank.Load it to its full 1.5 SG rating and that same volume of liquid scales to about 2,442 lb, so plan for roughly 2,502 lb of tank and contents on your saddle mount and trailer frame.Size the frame, tongue, and axle to the heavier 2,502 lb number, not the water number.Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to confirm your rig carries the fertilizer weight you intend to haul.If you run applicator and leg-style tanks across a fleet, our guides on the 49 CFR 173.5 agricultural exemption and the DOT Non-Roadable Trailer scope for applicator tanks cover the classification questions that come up on farm-fleet use.

Chemical compatibility

Our data lists this tank as HDLPE at a 1.5 SG rating, but the resin carries a question mark, so confirm HDLPE versus XLPE with us before any chemical load, since the two behave differently in acid service.Per the Snyder Industries OEM chemical resistance chart (concentration- and temperature-specific), a 1.5 SG tank like this is rated for acetic acid (60%), aluminum sulfate (50%), calcium chloride (40%), DEF (32.5%), ferrous sulfate (20%), magnesium chloride (30%), sodium carbonate (30%), urea solution (50%), and ozonated water (up to 10 PPM).EPDM is the gasket for the entire 1.5-SG list.Fittings run PVC on most (aluminum sulfate, calcium chloride, ferrous sulfate, magnesium chloride, sodium carbonate, ozonated water), PP/PVC on acetic acid and urea, and 316SS on DEF specifically, since DEF attacks brass and carbon steel.Match the exact chemical, concentration, temperature, fitting, and gasket to the chart every time.

Here is the mistake that scraps a tank: several common fertilizer and water-treatment chemicals need a stronger tank than this 1.5 SG unit and require a 1.9 SG tank instead.Ethylene glycol (100%), ferric chloride (50%), phosphoric acid (85%), and sodium thiosulfate (40%) all call for a 1.5 SG build. The aggressive acids also move to Viton gaskets: hydrochloric acid (37%), hydrogen peroxide (50%), and sodium hypochlorite (<16.5%) need 1.5 SG plus Viton, and sulfuric acid (98%) needs 1.5 SG with CPVC fittings and Viton.Do not put any of those in this tank, step up to a 1.5 SG Norwesco or Snyder unit.Check the full chemical compatibility chart before you commit a load, and if you are blending fertilizer read up on blend-tank stratification so the spreader does not run off-spec.
