What goes in it
Liquid fertilizer, water and the common farm chemicals that polyethylene handles. Before anything goes in, check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide; the entries for urea solution, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, DEF and phosphoric acid are the ones saddle tank buyers ask about most. The 1.5 rating means a liquid up to 1.5 times the weight of water, 12.52 lb per gallon; most starter fertilizers sit under that, but check the density of yours. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 1-1/4 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed. Your shutoff valve or hose barb threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not the weight of hardware bouncing over a field.
- Inlet. None. Fill through the lid, or add your own bulkhead fitting for a plumbed fill; dry-fit it before tightening.
- Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid, wide enough to fill from a hose or a jug and to get a hand inside to rinse.
