Why a cone at this size

A flat bottom tank this large always keeps a layer at the floor: settled solids, the last few inches a pump cannot reach, and whatever was left from the previous fill. A cone bottom gathers everything to one low point so the tank drains out completely. That is the reason to buy it for liquids that settle or separate, for liquids that change between fills, and for any process where the bottom of the tank has to be clean. Buyers are typically water and wastewater treatment plants, fertilizer and agricultural chemical dealers, and industrial sites holding a process liquid in bulk.

The 1.5 rating covers water and liquids up to one and a half times the weight of water, where polyethylene suits them. Check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide and tell us the concentration. At this size, the treatment and farm buyers we hear from most often look up sodium hypochlorite, aluminum sulfate, urea solution and calcium chloride. If the liquid is denser than 1.5, call us before you order. The limit is 100 F, and a black wall in sun warms the contents, so check the working temperature too.

Black keeps light out, which protects chlorine solutions and stops algae. What to check before you buy

1. Stand. A cone bottom tank cannot sit on a slab; it rides in a stand that carries it by the cone and leaves room under the tip for the outlet and valve. No stand is listed with this part number, and full at the rating the stand carries about 162,630 lb plus the tank. 2. Outlet and fittings. No outlet fitting is listed with this part number. Tell us the pump rate, the pipe sizes and the fill method, and we will confirm with Snyder what the tank carries and what to add.
3. Manway. One 18 inch threaded vented manway on top, 238 inches up. Plan the fill line, the vent and safe access before the tank is set.
4. Containment. A chemical tank this size usually needs secondary containment sized to its volume. Check your rules before you fix the footprint.

The tank ships at freight class 300 from Lincoln, Nebraska, 142 by 142 by 238 inches at 3,250 lb. It is an oversize load that comes off with a crane, so call us before you order and we will plan the truck, the route into the site and the lift with you. Never lift by the manway. At the tailgate, check the bill of lading against 7490100N49 and walk the whole shell and cone for transit marks. Once it is set in its stand, fill it with water first and watch the cone and outlet for a day before the working liquid goes in.
