Snyder Industries 150 Gallon ASTM Black Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank

A tank for a pump room with no floor left

At 30 inches across, this is the tank for the aisle beside a metering pump, the corner of a dosing skid that has to clear a doorway, a small plating bath make-up or a maintenance shop chemical kept in the dark. The heavy duty wall is bought for the liquid, not the calendar: an acid, a coagulant or a dense process chemical is what justifies it. People skip the ground on a tank this small. Full of water it carries 1,251 lb, and at the rating 2,377 lb, all of it on a 30 inch circle, because a rotomolded floor bears on the whole pad and on nothing else. That is a real bearing pressure on a small area. The slab or the steel stand is level and in full contact per our concrete pad sizing guide, never a pair of timbers under the rim. A narrow tank is also easy to carry through a door and easy to knock over, so restrain it before the first fill and keep hose reels and ladders off it. Openings and what to confirm before you buy

1. Manway. One 18 inch threaded vented manway at 59 inches, near eye level. It is the fill point and the vent path together. On a 30 inch footprint the level climbs fast for every gallon in, so the air leaving the lid has to move as fast as the liquid arrives; size the vent to the pump, not to the fitting on the bench.
2. Outlet. No bottom fitting is listed. Name the liquid and the draw-off you want at order and we will confirm what Snyder fits to this moulding before anything is cut.
3. Fill line. A dip tube to the floor. Fifty-nine inches of free fall in a narrow shell foams the liquid and coats the wall above the level, and a coated wall is one you cannot inspect.
4. Headspace. A narrow shell turns a small thermal expansion into a lot of rise. Fill to the freeboard the sizing guide gives, not to the lid, and leave more room if the liquid arrives cold.
