Why a squat tank

Most small vertical tanks are tall and narrow. This one is not. At 23 inches high it slides under a typical work bench or a counter, sits low on a cart or a pump skid, and stays out of the way of overhead piping. A low, wide shape also keeps the centre of weight close to the floor, which matters when the liquid inside is nearly twice the weight of water: a full tank this shape is harder to tip than a tall one holding the same load.

Thirty gallons in a 1.9 rated wall is a feed or batch tank for dense liquids: a chemical feed under a dosing pump, a small mixing batch, a concentrate held under the station that draws from it. For plain water, a lighter tank will do the same job; the heavy duty wall is for the dense liquid. The black wall blocks light, which keeps algae out of water and protects liquids that break down in sunlight. It also hides the level and warms in the sun, so keep it shaded where the 120 F limit could come into reach.

What to check before you buy

1. Clearance above. Under a bench, the top of the tank is where you fill and reach in. Leave enough space above the 23 inch height to open it, fill it and look inside.
2. The openings. No outlet or lid size is listed for this tank on this page. Tell us the connection you need and we will confirm the openings from Snyder's drawing before it ships.

4. The level. A black wall does not show the liquid, so plan a dipstick or a gauge.
