What a 35 gallon heavy duty tank is for

This is a small, stout tank for a small, dense job. Thirty-five gallons is a feed supply for a modest dosing pump, a batch of concentrate for a cleaning or finishing step, or a pilot run in a shop or a lab before anyone commits to a larger tank. At 18 lb you can carry it empty, set it on a cart or a low stand, and move it when the layout changes.

The 1.9 rating is what separates it from a light duty tank of the same size. A liquid close to twice the weight of water doubles the load on the wall and on the surface under it. If you are storing plain water, a lighter tank will usually do. If the liquid is dense, buy the wall that is rated for it. Black stops light. That keeps algae out of stored water and protects liquids that degrade in sunlight. In return it hides the level and runs warm in the sun, so give it shade if the location gets hot; the limit is 120 F.

What to check before you buy

1. The openings. No outlet or lid size is listed for this tank on this page. Tell us the connection you need and we will confirm the openings from Snyder's drawing before it ships.
2. The base. Even a small tank needs full support. 555 lb of dense liquid on a 22 inch circle should stand on a flat, level surface touching the whole bottom, not on the edges of a pallet. The concrete pad sizing guide explains why.
3. Headroom. Leave space at the top for expansion as the liquid warms; the freeboard and usable volume guide has the method.
4. The level. Plan a dipstick, a sight tube or a scale from the start, because you will not see the liquid through the wall.
