Where it goes

A wide, shallow body is more stable with a mixer clamped to the rim, easier to clean out completely, and slower to build a deep stratified column than a tall tank of the same volume. Freeboard matters more on an open top than on a closed tank: there is no lid to catch a surge, so whatever a mixer or a returning line throws up leaves the tank and lands on the floor. Vapour and odour leave an open tank freely, so ventilation around it is part of the installation.

1. The open top. Total access to the whole 48 inch circle, and no containment of anything that is not liquid: dust, rain, insects, tools and whatever the ceiling drops. Keep something over it between shifts. If you need a cover or a rim mounted fitting, tell us and we will confirm what is available for this part number.
2. Outlet. Not stated on this listing. The usual arrangement on an open tank this size is a suction line over the rim to a pump on the floor; carry that line on its own bracket, not on the rim, and keep the foot off the tank floor. If you need a bottom fitting, tell us before the order.

At the tailgate, check the part number against 57600VOT-45 on the bill of lading and look inside before you lift; an open tank is the one most likely to arrive with something in it that should not be there. Set it in its final position before anything is plumbed to it, fill it with water on the level, hold the 3,002 lb load and walk the base with a torch while it is full, because on a flat bottomed tank the floor and the lowest inches of wall are where a fault shows first. Drain it, dry it, and write the intended contents on the outside of the shell before the first batch.
