• The fill opening: an 18 inch threaded vented manway is the only opening this sheet publishes, and it sits at the top of a 178 inch shell. It is the delivery route, the inspection route and the cleaning route at once, and 18 inches is enough to get a real look at the wall and to work a lance properly.
• Reaching it: close to fifteen feet up, this is a working-at-height job every time it is opened. The sheet lists ladder lugs, which is the moulded provision for a climbing arrangement; the ladder, its fixings, the platform and the fall protection are specified separately and appear nowhere on this sheet. Design them with the installation, and bring the delivery connection down to ground level so no driver ever climbs.
• The vent: the manway is listed as vented, and that path protects the wall while a bulk delivery pushes air out and while a pump draws the level down. At this volume the air moves in quantity, so keep the path clear and inspect it whenever the manway is opened.
• The outlet: the outlet field reads "1 Manway / Lid", an opening rather than a pipe size, with the inlet field blank.
