The Bushman 100 Gallon Vertical Rainwater Harvesting Tank (SKU 30036) is a compact brown polyethylene tank built for capturing and storing collected roof runoff at homes, cabins, garden plots, and small remote sites. It stands a manufacturer-verified 42 inches tall on a 30 x 30 inch square footprint, so it tucks against a wall or downspout without claiming much yard. The brown coloring is intended to blend into exterior siding and landscaping while shading the stored water to slow algae growth. The verified dimensions and full fitting layout are shown on the technical drawing on this page.

Will it work for your setup?

This is a 100-gallon vertical storage tank sized for point-of-use rainwater capture rather than whole-property supply. Filled with water it carries roughly 834 pounds spread across a 30 x 30 inch (900 square inch) footprint, a little under 1 psi of bearing pressure, so plan the base accordingly: a level, fully supported pad that carries the entire footprint. For above-ground poly tanks, our concrete pad sizing guide walks through the ACI 360R-10 framework, and the Tank Sizing Calculator plus Tank Sizing Guide help you confirm 100 gallons matches your roof area and rainfall. If you are harvesting for garden or landscape use, the rainwater harvesting sizing-by-state guide covers the regulations and rainfall math behind the number you actually need.

Fittings and rainwater plumbing

The tank comes configured for harvesting duty. The drawing shows two flat fitting pads (8" x 7" and 8" x 6") for mounting, a combined 3-inch outlet-and-overflow kit, and a 3/4-inch bulkhead fitting with a polypropylene body and EPDM gasket for your draw line. The flat pads are exactly that, flat mounting surfaces where you can add future fittings such as a level gauge or a second bulkhead, so the tank grows with your setup. The EPDM gasket and polypropylene body are well suited to ambient rainwater service. The 3-inch overflow is the detail people skip: a rainwater tank fills fast in a heavy storm, and the overflow has to move water away from the base as quickly as the downspout delivers it. Because outlet and overflow come as one kit, you are not sourcing the overflow separately, but you do need to route it to daylight or drainage before your first big rain. If you are adding a first-flush diverter ahead of the inlet, our first-flush diverter sizing guide follows the Texas Manual on Rainwater Harvesting method.

One thing to get right

Match the tank to the job. This 100-gallon vertical is a harvesting and short-term storage tank; if you are planning a rural fire-water reservoir or any pressurized private fire-protection role, that is a different sizing exercise entirely, covered in our fire-water reservoir design guide. For everyday rain capture, this size shines where space is tight.
