A 200 gallon black water tank with a manway you can reach into
The Norwesco 200 gallon vertical water storage tank, part number 41522, is the wide 200: a black polyethylene tank 35 inches in diameter and 59 inches tall, weighing 50 lb empty. Norwesco makes two 200 gallon verticals, and this is the one that fits under a lower roof and can be cleaned by hand. It comes with a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting as the outlet, a 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting as the inlet and a 16 inch vented manway on top. The tank is rated for water, specific gravity 1.0; 200 gallons of water weighs 1668 lb. The resin is FDA compliant and UV stabilized, and Norwesco backs the tank with a 3 year warranty. Where the wide 200 goes
At 59 inches tall the manway sits at chest height for most people, so you can fill from a hose, drop a float or a pump in, look at the water and get an arm and a brush inside without a step. That makes this the 200 for a household reserve that gets cleaned each year, a rain tank under a downspout, a stock or garden tank filled from the top, and a shop or wash bay buffer where somebody has to get inside it now and then. The 35 inch base is steady, and the tank fits under a porch roof, a lean-to or a low ceiling where the taller 200 will not. What you give up is about a foot of head compared with the tall one, which matters only if the tank feeds a gravity line a long way off. It needs a flat, level, continuous surface under the whole 35 inch floor, and a strap where people, animals or vehicles pass, because full it carries 1668 lb. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. A 2 inch valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight in, and a 2 inch drain empties the tank quickly. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries water, not hardware.
- Inlet. A 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting for the fill line or the overflow. Run an overflow to daylight away from the base.
- Manway. A 16 inch vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, drop a float in, and get a hand and a brush inside to clean. The vent lets air in and out as the level changes; never plug it.

The other 200, and the sizes either side
The tall 200 is the 200 gallon vertical water tank, part number 41519, narrower and a foot taller with a small lid instead of a manway; buy that one for head in a tight corner. The same capacity also comes as the 200 gallon black tank, part number 44107, and the 200 gallon green California-only tank. The tank ships LTL at freight class 300 from Norwesco's Burnet, Texas plant, 35 by 35 by 59 inches on a pallet at a ship weight of 50 lb. It needs a flat, level, continuous base poured wider than the 35 inch floor. At the tailgate, check the part number against 41522 on the bill of lading and look at the wall, the manway and both fittings for transit damage.
