Head is the reason to buy the tall one

At 72 inches, the water surface of a full tank stands six feet above the outlet. That column runs a gravity hose across a yard, feeds a drip line on a bench below the tank, keeps a booster pump flooded so it starts against water instead of air, and fills a trough or a mixing station below the pad without a switch. The buyers are the ones with a level problem rather than a volume problem: a nursery feeding benches downhill, a workshop with a gravity rinse line, a small holding filling troughs below the tank, a site where there is no power at the tank. The trade is stability and reach. Six feet of tank on a two and a half foot base is tall and narrow, and full it carries 1668 lb of water, so strap it to structure or to anchors set in the pad before the first fill and check the strap again after the first hot month, because polyethylene grows in the sun and a strap that was tight in spring is slack in August. The lid is above comfortable reach for most people, so fill through the inlet and put the level gauge where you can read it from the ground. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. A 2 inch valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight in, and a 2 inch drain empties the tank quickly. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries water, not hardware.
2. Inlet. A 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting for the fill line or the overflow. Run an overflow to daylight away from the base.
3. Lid. An 8 inch lid on top: large enough to fill from a hose, drop a float in and look inside, not large enough to reach in and scrub, so clean through the openings or with a wand.

The other 200, and the sizes either side

The wide 200 is the 200 gallon vertical water tank, part number 41522, shorter and wider with a full manway you can reach into; buy that one if headroom is tight or you want to clean the tank by hand. The same capacity also comes as the 200 gallon black tank, part number 44107, and the 200 gallon green California-only tank. One size down on the same 30 inch footprint is the 175 gallon vertical water tank; one size up is the 220 gallon dark green tank. Shipping and receiving

The tank ships LTL from Norwesco's Burnet, Texas plant, 30 by 30 by 72 inches on a pallet at a ship weight of 50 lb. The listed price is before freight; the freight cost estimator gives the lane cost to your ZIP, or request a written quote. It needs a flat, level, continuous base poured wider than the 30 inch floor, because the floor bears on everything it touches and nothing else. At the tailgate, check the part number against 41519 on the bill of lading and look at the wall and both fittings for transit damage. Strap it, fill it with water the first time and watch the fittings and the base for a day before it goes into service.
