The Bushman 150 Gallon Vertical Rainwater Harvesting Tank (BM-30125) is a double-wall polyethylene tank in green, standing 58 inches tall on a compact 30 x 30 inch footprint. It holds 150 gallons and carries a specific gravity rating of 1.0, which is exactly what rainwater needs. If you are setting up a residential or light-commercial rainwater harvesting system with limited slab or pad space, this is a tank that tucks into a corner, beside a downspout, or under an eave without sprawling across the yard.

Will it work for your install?

Capacity is 150 gallons in a vertical, double-wall configuration. The tank measures 58 inches high by 30 inches wide by 30 inches deep, so plan your pad and overhead clearance around that 58-inch height. When full, the tank and its contents weigh about 1,251 pounds, which is also the maximum rated contents weight, so the pad underneath has to carry that load on a 30 x 30 inch base. Set a level, full-contact pad rated for at least 1,251 pounds before you fill. The double-wall construction is the standout here: the second wall gives you a margin against impact and freeze stress that a single-wall tank does not, which matters when an outdoor rainwater tank sees seasonal temperature swings. To size your harvesting setup against roof area and local rainfall, run the numbers through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide.

Fittings and the mistake to avoid

The tank comes with an 8-inch twist lid for top access, plus FNPT-threaded bulkhead fittings, including a secondary bulkhead for your plumbing and overflow runs. Each bulkhead seals against a gasket, so before you fill, verify the bulkhead gasket is seated and the fitting torqued, and thread your mating PVC or poly pipe into the FNPT bulkhead rather than forcing it. Plan your overflow above the secondary bulkhead so debris and surge do not eat into your usable 150 gallons. The mistake to avoid: this is a water tank rated at specific gravity 1.0. Do not press it into chemical service or store anything heavier than water, because the 1.0 SG rating sets the hard limit on contents density. If you need to store a denser liquid, that is a different, higher-SG-rated tank line, not this one; the double-wall freeboard and density guide explains why density and freeboard change which tank you should buy.

Sizing and first-flush planning

Rainwater harvesting is the job this tank is designed for, and getting usable volume right is mostly about the inlet and diverter. Our guide on Bushman rainwater harvesting tanks and first-flush diverter sizing walks through diverter sizing per the Texas Manual on Rainwater Harvesting, 3rd Edition, and the state-by-state rainwater harvesting tank sizing guide covers regulations and rainfall by region so you match capacity to your roof and your local rules.
