The Bushman 3000 Gallon Black Rainwater Collection Storage Tank is a 3,000-gallon polyethylene tank built for serious rainwater harvesting and bulk water storage. It stands 113 inches tall on a compact 96 x 96 inch square footprint, and the black exterior blocks light to suppress algae growth in stored water. At a full water weight of 25,020 pounds, this is a foundation-dependent install: the pad has to carry the loaded tank, not just the empty shell.

Will this tank work for your site?

This is a 1.0 specific gravity tank, rated for water and water-density liquids up to 25,020 pounds of contents. That SG rating is the number that matters most: it is built for rainwater and general water storage, not for heavier-than-water chemicals. The 96 x 96 inch footprint and 113-inch height pack 3,000 gallons into a tight ground area, which is why this Bushman water storage tank shows up so often on residential and light-commercial rainwater jobs. Before you commit, run your roof catchment and draw rate through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to confirm 3,000 gallons is the right size.

Fittings and plumbing

Per the technical drawing on this page, this tank is configured with three flat fitting areas sized 12" x 14", 8" x 14", and 12" x 24", plus a 4-inch outlet and overflow kit and a 1-inch bulkhead fitting. That bulkhead is polypropylene with an EPDM gasket, so when you connect the 1-inch port you know the wetted materials before you mate dissimilar fittings. The flat pads are the sanctioned mounting zones: any field-added bulkhead belongs on one of those flat areas, gasketed the same way as the factory PP/EPDM port, and never on the curved sidewall. Confirm exact fitting locations and elevations against the technical drawing before you trench or plumb, and route your overflow line to the included 4-inch overflow kit so a hard rain drains safely instead of pressurizing the tank.

Foundation and install

A loaded weight north of 25,000 pounds means the pad is not optional. A level, properly sized base keeps the tank from settling or distorting over time. Our guide on concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks walks through the ACI 360R-10 framework for getting that base right. If this is a harvesting system, our first-flush diverter sizing guide per the Texas Manual on Rainwater Harvesting covers keeping debris and the first dirty runoff out of stored water. Putting it to other duty? Our fire-water reservoir tank design guide and water reuse tank topology guide cover fire-reserve and grey-water or condensate applications.

This tank ships LTL freight from Fairfield, Texas, quoted live to your ZIP code. Because it is a single-origin Texas shipment with a 25,020-pound loaded rating, delivery distance is what drives the LTL quote, so get a number in seconds with our Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 and we will work out the best route and delivery for your site.
