The Bushman 4050 Gallon Green Rainwater Collection Storage Tank is a large above-ground polyethylene water storage tank built for serious rainwater harvesting and bulk water storage. It holds 4,050 gallons on a compact circular pad - roughly 101 inches in diameter and standing 129 inches tall - putting real reserve capacity in a footprint you can actually fit on most sites.

Will it work for your site?

This is a dedicated rainwater tank: 4,050 gallons of usable storage at about 101 inches in diameter and 129 inches to the top. The polyethylene shell carries a 1.0 specific gravity rating, which is correct for water and other contents at the density of water. Plan your pad for a filled weight of 33,777 pounds - that is the full-water weight, so the slab and the soil beneath it have to carry roughly 16.9 tons before you add a drop more. Per the technical drawing on this page, the tank uses a bulkhead-style outlet sized at 1" NPT; confirm that thread and the fitting layout against the drawing before you order plumbing and valves. The opaque green wall is a real water-storage benefit - it blocks sunlight far better than a translucent tank, which suppresses algae growth in stored water. If you are still working out whether 4,050 gallons matches your roof catchment and demand, our Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide walk through the math, and at a 129-inch fill height you have meaningful gravity head at the outlet to factor into pump or gravity-feed planning.

Foundation and harvesting setup

A tank this size lives or dies on its base. It weighs almost nothing empty and over 33,000 pounds full, so the pad has to be dead level, fully supporting the entire circular footprint, and engineered for the load. Our guide on concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks covers the ACI framework for getting that slab right. On the harvesting side, first-flush diversion keeps the dirtiest early runoff out of your stored water - the Bushman rainwater harvesting first-flush diverter sizing guide sizes that to the Texas Manual on Rainwater Harvesting. If this tank is part of a larger plan, see our writeups on fire-water reservoir design for rural and remote sites and industrial water reuse tank topology for grey-water and condensate aggregation.

The mistake to avoid

The most common error on a tank this size is underbuilding the foundation and overlooking the single outlet. At 33,777 pounds full, a soft, uneven, or undersized pad will let the tank settle, stress the wall near the outlet, and pull plumbing out of alignment. Just as important: the drawing shows one fitting - a 1" NPT bulkhead. That is fine for steady fill-and-draw, but a single 1" outlet is a real flow bottleneck for fast draw or fire-supply duty, so high-demand service typically needs a larger or added bulkhead rather than the stock outlet. Set the base correctly the first time, and locate that 1" NPT bulkhead where gravity-feed or pump suction actually serves your distribution line - moving a filled tank is not an option.

This Bushman rainwater tank ships LTL freight from our Temecula, CA plant - the only origin for this tank - quoted live to your ZIP, so there is no flat shipping number on a unit this large and West Coast ZIPs tend to land best on freight.
