The Enduraplas 1400 Gallon Black Horizontal Sump Bottom Leg Tank ships as a mobile-ready haul unit: a 1,400-gallon polyethylene tank cradled in a frame, with a sump bottom that drains toward the outlet so you can empty it cleanly between loads. It measures 102 inches long by 70 inches wide and stands 71 inches tall, giving you a 70.0 x 102.0-inch footprint to plan for on a trailer deck or skid. The black resin blocks UV and suppresses light penetration, which matters for the fertilizer, ag chemical, and industrial liquids these horizontal leg tanks typically haul.

Will this Enduraplas horizontal leg tank work for your load?

This tank carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating, so it is built for dense liquids, not just water. Filled with water alone it holds roughly 11,676 pounds; at its maximum rated contents weight it carries up to 22,184 pounds of product. Note that 22,184 pounds is contents only - your loaded gross is contents plus the tank and frame, so do not treat that number as the figure you set the trailer to. Use those weights to check trailer, axle, and frame capacity before you spec a pump or a tow vehicle, because a 1.9 SG rating means this tank can hold a liquid far heavier than water and the weight adds up fast at 1,400 gallons. If you are sizing across multiple loads or comparing capacities, run the numbers through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before you commit. The outlet and sump fitting sizes are shown on the technical drawing on this page; confirm the outlet diameter before you size a valve or pump, and call 866-418-1777 if you need it verified.

Chemical compatibility

The tank is molded from polyethylene at a 1.9 specific gravity rating. The resin grade is reported as HDLPE but is unconfirmed - HDLPE and XLPE (crosslinked) differ in chemical resistance even at the same SG, so for any chemical service below you must have Enduraplas confirm the resin for that specific chemical before putting it in. Match your fitting and gasket materials to the chemical and concentration shown; these values are concentration- and temperature-specific:

  • Sodium Hypochlorite (<16.5%) - PVC fittings, Viton gaskets - details
  • Sodium Thiosulfate (40%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Sulfuric Acid (98%) - CPVC fittings, Viton gaskets - details
  • Urea Solution (50%) - PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Zinc Orthophosphate - PP/316SS fittings, EPDM gaskets - details
  • Ozonated Water (up to 10 PPM) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets - compatibility reference page in progress

Confirm your service conditions against the chart on each chemical's page and the full chemical compatibility reference before you order.

The mistake to avoid

Two errors sink high-SG haul tanks. The first is running the wrong gasket. EPDM is the wrong default for every chemical above that shows Viton or Aflas - hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, phosphoric, and sulfuric acids, hydrogen peroxide, and sodium hypochlorite all require Viton, and peracetic acid requires Aflas with 316 stainless fittings. The wrong elastomer or fitting metal fails long before the tank does. The second is loading to volume without checking weight: at 1.9 SG this tank carries up to 22,184 pounds of contents, and that load has to be legal and safe on your trailer and tow vehicle once you add tank and frame weight. And because the resin grade is unconfirmed, put nothing chemical into service until Enduraplas confirms HDLPE versus XLPE for your specific chemical. Refer to the technical drawing on this page for the sump, outlet, and frame geometry before you plumb it.
