The Norwesco 1335 gallon HDPE horizontal elliptical leg tank in blue, part number 42929, is the high density linear polyethylene version of Norwesco's 1335 gallon elliptical tank, rated for liquids up to 1.9 specific gravity and backed by a 5 year warranty. It is 126 inches long, 66 inches wide and 55 inches tall and weighs 415 lb empty. The oval cross section keeps the centre of gravity low and the tank narrow enough to ride between the fenders of a trailer while carrying over thirteen hundred gallons. The 1.9 rating, which Norwesco states as a maximum of 15.87 lb per gallon, covers dense liquid fertilizers and heavier chemical blends that a standard 1.5 tank is not built for; 1335 gallons of water weighs about 11130 lb. On a trailer or a truck
At 126 inches long and 66 inches wide this tank wants a tandem or triple axle trailer, a nurse trailer or a flatbed truck, and at 55 inches tall it keeps the load low on the road and on a field with side slopes. Full of water it is close to 11130 lb and more with fertilizer, so the trailer's axle, tire and tongue ratings, not the tank, are usually the limit; check them before the tank, not after. Strap it through the moulded leg recesses, never over the manway, and use the bands Norwesco makes for elliptical tanks where it rides on a vehicle; tell us the trailer and we will confirm the band kit with the order. What goes in it
Liquid fertilizer is the main job for the heavy duty elliptical tank, along with water and the farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top, wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump and to get a hand and a brush inside to clean. The vent lets the tank breathe as it fills and drains; never plug it.
