Chemical compatibility

This tank is polyethylene rated to 1.9 specific gravity. The resin is listed as HDLPE, but confirm whether your unit is HDLPE or another polyethylene grade before putting it into chemical service, because resin type affects the chemical-resistance profile. Compatibility below is drawn from the OEM chemical-resistance chart and is concentration- and temperature-specific, so verify your exact chemical, concentration, and operating temperature against that chart before filling. Match both the fitting and the gasket material exactly as listed, because the most common and most expensive mistake on a tank like this is ordering the wrong gasket or fitting kit.

Most chemicals here use PVC (or PP/PVC) fittings with EPDM gaskets: Acetic Acid (60%, PP/PVC, EPDM), Aluminum Sulfate (50%, PVC, EPDM), Calcium Chloride (40%, PVC, EPDM), Ethylene Glycol (100%, PVC, EPDM), Ferric Chloride (50%, PVC, EPDM), Ferric Sulfate (60%, PVC, EPDM), Ferrous Sulfate (20%, PVC, EPDM), Magnesium Chloride (30%, PVC, EPDM), Polyaluminum Chloride (PVC, EPDM), Potassium Carbonate (50%, PVC, EPDM), Potassium Hydroxide (saturated, PVC, EPDM), Sodium Bisulfate (PVC/PP, EPDM), Sodium Bisulfite (PVC/PP, EPDM), Sodium Carbonate (30%, PVC, EPDM), Sodium Thiosulfate (40%, PVC, EPDM), Urea Solution (50%, PP/PVC, EPDM), and Ozonated Water (up to 10 PPM, PVC, EPDM).

Several require Viton gaskets — do not substitute EPDM: Hydrochloric Acid (37%, PVC, Viton), Hydrofluoric Acid (48%, PP/PVC, Viton), Hydrofluosilicic Acid (26%, PP/PVC, Viton), Hydrogen Peroxide (50%, PVC, Viton), Phosphoric Acid (85%, PVC, Viton), and Sodium Hypochlorite (under 16.5%, PVC, Viton).

A handful require metal or CPVC fittings — not the default PVC: DEF (32.5%, 316SS fittings, EPDM), Peracetic Acid (30%, 316SS fittings, Aflas gaskets), Sulfuric Acid (98%, CPVC fittings, Viton), Propylene Glycol (PP/316SS, EPDM), and Zinc Orthophosphate (PP/316SS, EPDM). The one mistake to avoid

Do not treat the 1.9 specific gravity rating as your fill limit. At 1.9 SG this tank is already at the top of the polyethylene range, so there is no higher-SG poly tank to step up to — which means the binding constraint is the 22,184-pound maximum rated contents weight, not wall density. The math is close: full water is 11,676 pounds at 1.0 SG, and 22,184 divided by 11,676 works out to roughly 1.90 SG, so a 1.9-density liquid hits the weight cap at essentially full volume with almost no margin. With any dense chemical, calculate your liquid's weight at your fill level first and run to an SG-derived fill line rather than brim-full, then confirm both your trailer and your fittings are rated for the load.
