The Norwesco 100 Gallon Black Loaf Tank (SKU 43611B) is a low-profile portable utility tank built for water transport and field service where overhead clearance and a stable footprint matter more than vertical height. At 30 inches tall on a 27 x 41 inch footprint, this 100 gallon polyethylene loaf tank sits low in a truck bed, trailer, or skid frame, and the black resin shades the contents to slow algae growth in stored water. It carries a 1.5 specific gravity rating, so the tank wall is built to handle a contents density up to 1.5 times that of water.

Will it work for your job

Filled with water, the contents weigh about 834 lb, and the tank is rated to a maximum contents weight of 1,251 lb — the headroom you get from the 1.5 SG rating. Size your mount, tie-downs, and trailer or truck axle rating around the full 834 lb water figure, and treat 1,251 lb as the ceiling for denser fluids. The 27 inch width clears most standard doorways and the 30 inch height fits under many low-clearance truck caps, which is the whole point of a loaf-style tank over a taller vertical. If you are matching this tank to a transfer, nurse, or utility setup, run your numbers through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before you buy.

Fittings and openings

The tank carries a single top opening: a thread for an 8 inch lid (see the technical drawing on this page for its placement). That 8 inch threaded port is the only factory opening, so any lid, vent, or fill accessory you add must match that 8 inch thread. The drawing shows no factory side outlet or bulkhead fitting, so if you need a gravity-feed or pump draw, plan to add that fitting yourself through the lid or wall. Knowing this up front saves a return — do not order expecting a pre-installed outlet.

How it ships

This loaf tank ships LTL freight, quoted live to your ZIP. Norwesco molds this size at three plants — Hanford, CA, Lancaster, OH, and Sheldon, IA — so your tank ships from the location nearest you, which keeps LTL lanes short for most of the country and holds transit and cost down. One thing not to get wrong

The loaf is a portable utility tank, not a fixed bulk reservoir. The low center of gravity helps in transport, but a 100 gallon load still moves under braking and cornering — secure it against a bulkhead or in a cradle, and avoid running it partially full at highway speed. For farm fleet use, our guide on loaf-style utility tanks and the 49 CFR 173.5 agricultural exemption walks through DOT classification, and the Norwesco doorway and loaf sizing guide compares the 100 to 1000 gallon range by application.
