Where the low shape earns its place
Most 120 gallon tanks stand tall on a small circle. This one puts the same water on a 38 inch circle only 31 inches high, which is the difference between a tank that needs a room and a tank that fits under something. Buyers put it in a van or truck bed for hauling water to stock or a job, under a potting bench as a rain or feed reservoir, in a crawl space or utility room as a household reserve, and on a trailer deck where a tall tank would be top heavy. The wide base makes it steady while it is being moved, and at 32 lb empty one person can carry it. What the low shape gives up is head: with less than three feet of water over the outlet, a gravity feed from this tank is a slow trickle, so plan on a pump below the outlet for anything that needs flow. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. Your valve or hose adapter threads straight in. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries water, not hardware.
- Inlet. A 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting for a fill line or an overflow. Run the overflow to daylight away from the base.
- Lid. A 5 inch threaded vented lid. It vents the tank as it fills and drains and takes a hose for a top fill; it is not a manway you can reach into, so clean through the openings or with a wand.
