The Norwesco 2000 Gallon Vertical Water Storage Tank is a 2,000-gallon black polyethylene vertical tank rated to 1.1 specific gravity, built to hold water, irrigation supply, captured rainwater, fire-protection reserve, or any other water-density liquid. It stands 84 inches tall on a 90 x 90 inch footprint. The black, opaque resin blocks light to inhibit algae growth, which is why it is a common pick for water storage and bulk vertical storage tank service alike.

Will this tank work for your water?

The 1.1 specific gravity rating means the wall is engineered to carry liquids up to 1.1 times the weight of water, and plain water sits well inside that envelope. Filled to 2,000 gallons of water, the contents alone weigh 16,680 lb, and the tank is rated to carry up to 18,348 lb of contents at its full 1.1 SG capability. That 1.1 SG wall is rated for water and water-density liquids only. For heavier chemicals above 1.1 SG, this is not the correct tank, so call us before you fill it with anything denser than water. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to confirm 2,000 gallons matches your draw-down and refill cycle before you commit.

Foundation, fittings, and setup

At 84 inches tall on a 90 x 90 inch footprint, this is a wide, low-profile 2,000-gallon tank, so confirm overhead clearance and gate or door width for both delivery and final placement. The pad has to fully support that entire 90 x 90 inch base, because more than eight tons of water at full fill must bear evenly with no voids or overhang. Our guide to concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks walks through the ACI 360R-10 framework so the slab is right the first time. Fitting and lid sizes are shown on the technical drawing on this page; call 866-418-1777 to confirm the installed outlet, bulkhead, and lid before you order plumbing. Note also that black resin, while it controls algae, is opaque, so you cannot read fill level through the wall; plan a level gauge or sight tube into your install.

Where it fits in your project

Builders use this 2,000-gallon tank for rural fire-water reserves, captured rainwater, and aggregated reuse water. If you are sizing a private fire-protection reservoir, our write-up on fire-water reservoir tank design covers NFPA 22 sizing discipline and cold-climate freeze protection. For grey-water, rainwater, and HVAC condensate capture, see industrial water reuse tank topology. Cross-shopping brands? Our Snyder vs Norwesco vs Chem-Tainer 2000 gallon comparison lays out the differences at this size.
