A 2,000 gallon water tank that stays under a low eave
The Snyder 32553 holds 2,000 gallons in a black polyethylene shell that is 96 inches across and only 73 inches tall. That proportion is the reason to pick it over the taller 2,000 gallon shapes in the same family: a wide, squat tank keeps its center of gravity low when the wind is up and the tank is empty, its 20 inch manway stays reachable from the ground, and the whole vessel clears the underside of a barn eave or a carport that a 90 inch tank cannot get under.

Will it work for your site?
It is rated for a specific gravity of 1.0, which means water and liquids no denser than water. Filled, it carries 16,680 pounds of contents on a 96 inch circle, so the base matters more than the tank does: a level pad in full contact with the entire footprint, no crown, no gravel that can migrate. The concrete pad sizing guide walks through the ACI 360R-10 framework for exactly this load, and the tank sizing calculator confirms the gallons you need before you commit to the footprint. Black resin blocks light, so stored water stays clean of algae through a summer; for potable service the same tank is available in green as the 32555.
Same family, other shapes
Snyder makes the 2,000 gallon capacity in more than one geometry, and the choice is about height, not volume.
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 32553 (this tank) | 2,000 | 96 x 73 in | 263 lb |
| 32555, green | 2,000 | 96 x 73 in | 263 lb |
| 32547 | 1,600 | 86 x 71 in | 217 lb |
| 32747, straight wall | 2,500 | 96 x 90 in | 300 lb |
Note the weights. The 2,500 gallon straight-wall tank adds 500 gallons for 37 more pounds of resin, because it spends its material on height rather than diameter. The 32553 puts its 263 pounds into a wider floor and a shorter wall, which is what you want if the tank will ever be moved empty across a yard. If you are weighing this Snyder against the other two makers' tanks at this size, the Snyder vs Norwesco vs Chem-Tainer 2,000 gallon comparison puts the three side by side on wall, footprint and fittings.

Fittings and access
- Inlet: 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting.
- Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, low on the sidewall for a full drain.
- Access: 20 inch threaded, vented manway. The vent is what keeps the wall from pulling a vacuum during a fast pump-out; do not seal it.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
If the tank will feed a pump, size the suction line to the 2 inch outlet and keep the run short; the level gauge selection guide covers which sensor style reads through a black poly wall. Because the wall is opaque, a sight tube on the outlet is the cheapest level indicator that works in every light.
What it gets used for
Two thousand gallons is the size where a household rain-catch or stock-water reserve becomes a rural fire reserve. The fire-water reservoir design guide explains how a poly tank fits into a private fire protection stack and what freeze protection it needs. For reuse systems that blend rainwater, condensate and grey water, see the industrial water reuse tank topology article, and the tank sizing guide for how many days of draw a 2,000 gallon reserve actually buys. In a rainwater system, pair it with the first-flush diverter sizing guide so the first dirty runoff of a storm never reaches the tank.
Freight: how it ships
At 96 inches across this tank is oversize freight (NMFC 156600), so it travels on a flatbed rather than inside a box trailer, and the rate is a lane rate, not a class rate. Get the number for your ZIP from the freight cost estimator; the listed price is before freight. Before first fill, run the water test in the hydrostatic test methodology guide: fill in stages, watch the pad, check every fitting. Empty, the tank weighs 263 pounds, which two people can walk off a flatbed; full, it is not moving again, so set it exactly where it will live.
