Where a 2000 gallon vertical goes

The buyers are properties that have done the arithmetic on hauling water and decided to stop: a rural home that takes one delivery a fortnight, a ranch running float-fed troughs off one tank and one pump, an orchard or vineyard block holding a night's pumping for a morning's irrigation, a contractor supplying dust control from one point, and remote homes where the fire department asks for a stored supply. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. A 2 inch valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight in. Support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries water, not hardware; on a tank this size, a flexible connector between the fitting and rigid pipe takes up the movement of the wall as the level changes.
2. Inlet. A 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting for the fill line, a float valve or the overflow.
3. Manway. A 16 inch vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, drop a float in, and get a hand and a brush inside to clean. The vent lets air in and out as the level changes; never plug it.
