Chemical compatibility

The tank wall is rated to 1.5 SG in a polyethylene resin listed here as HDLPE; because that resin carries a "?", confirm HDLPE vs XLPE before putting anything but water in it. Per the Snyder Industries OEM chemical resistance chart — which is concentration- and temperature-specific — this 1.5-SG tank suits acetic acid (60%), aluminum sulfate (50%), calcium chloride (40%), DEF (32.5%), ferrous sulfate (20%), magnesium chloride (30%), sodium carbonate (30%), urea solution (50%), and ozonated water (up to 10 PPM). Note that DEF and urea only call for a 1.35-SG wall, so this 1.5-rated tank clears both with rating to spare — useful headroom on a hard-working DEF or fertilizer fleet. Match the fitting and gasket to the chemical: PP/PVC fittings with EPDM gaskets on acetic acid and urea, 316SS with EPDM on DEF, PVC with EPDM on the salts. Denser acids and oxidizers such as ethylene glycol (100%), hydrochloric acid (37%), sulfuric acid (98%), phosphoric acid (85%), sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide (50%), ferric chloride (50%), and peracetic acid (30%) all require the 1.9-SG rating.
