290 gallons at 1.9 specific gravity, six feet tall on a three foot base
The Snyder 1013000C26 is a natural white polyethylene vertical storage tank, 36 inches across and 72 inches tall, holding 290 gallons at 80 pounds. It is the tall one on the 36 inch base, a full tote and some on the footprint of a tote, with the 18 inch threaded, vented manway at six feet where a step reaches it. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 4,595 pounds of contents against 2,419 for water, so it takes concentrated acid, ferric and the heavy brines at strength. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead outlet, a 3 year warranty, and freight at class 300 from Philippi, West Virginia.

A tote and a half, standing up
The plant that takes one tote a delivery and never quite empties the last one ends up here: 290 gallons takes a whole tote pumped over with the remainder of the old one under it, and the tank stays put with its fitting, its valve and its float in one place. The 1.9 wall covers what a tote holds, and the white wall shows the level through it in daylight. Full at the rating it puts 4,595 pounds on a 36 inch circle, the most weight per square foot in this family, so it stands on a level slab per the concrete pad sizing guide, inside a berm when the liquid is regulated, and strapped to the wall behind it at the top third, because six feet of empty polyethylene on a three foot base goes over in a gust or a bump from a cart. The tank sizing calculator turns feed rate and delivery interval into a volume, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve to keep the pump wet between deliveries.
Grades on the 36 x 72 inch tank, and the 275 and 300 beside it
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1013000C26 (this tank, 1.9 SG) | 290 | 36 x 72 in | 80 lb |
| 1013000C34 (black) | 290 | 36 x 72 in | 80 lb |
| 1013000N42 (XLPE) | 290 | 36 x 72 in | 80 lb |
| 1013000N48 | 290 | 36 x 72 in | 80 lb |
| 5740100N42 (XLPE, low) | 275 | 47 x 59 in | 96 lb |
| 1011200C26 (slim) | 300 | 35 x 82 in | 85 lb |
The C34 is this tank in black for sun or a light-sensitive liquid, the N42 is the cross-linked one for hypochlorite and peroxide, and the N48 the other chemical grade, all on the same shell at this weight. The 5740100N42 lays 275 gallons down to 59 inches on a 47 inch base in the cross-linked resin, and the 1011200C26 stands 300 gallons on a 35 inch base at 82 inches for the narrowest corner.

Bulkheads and lid
- Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, at the base; a flexible connector to hard pipe, the valve supported off the pad, and the reducer to the pump's suction at the pump.
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 72 inches up, reached from a step; fill from a tote through a dip tube so the liquid does not free-fall and foam, and vent outside on anything that fumes.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
Six feet of liquid above the outlet keeps a metering pump's suction flooded to the last inches, and the 2 inch fitting drains the tank in minutes for a chemical change. Mount the pump below the outlet so it primes by gravity, put a low-level float on it, keep the manway closed against vapor loss, and label the one chemical the tank holds. A spill tray or a curb under it where the floor drains somewhere it should not.
The plants that pick 290
The acid or caustic supply at a boiler room, a coagulant or a polymer tank at a small water plant, a cooling tower treatment skid, the brine tank behind a large softener, and the chemical supply on a truck wash. Not a fire tank; the fire-water reservoir design guide works in thousands of gallons and a water wall. Where a reuse system doses treatment chemical between storage stages, the industrial water reuse tank topology article shows where a tank this size sits in the train.
Freight from Philippi, and the water fill first
The 1013000C26 ships from Philippi, West Virginia as LTL freight at class 300; the freight cost estimator quotes it to your ZIP, and the listed price is before freight. One person carries 80 pounds; a 36 inch tank goes through a door on its side. Fill it with water to the manway once and look at the outlet fitting for a weep, then drain and dry before the chemical goes in. Start the log with the first delivery: date, strength, and the level it filled to. A strap that is checked once a season is a strap that holds; put it on the same calendar as the gutters.
