A 360 gallon black polyethylene containment tray to catch what a tank lets go
The Norwesco 360 gallon containment tray, part number 42940, is an open black polyethylene basin 93 inches long, 69 inches wide and 16 inches deep, weighing 94 lb empty. What a 360 gallon tray is for
Secondary containment is the rule most sites follow for fertilizer, chemical and fuel storage: the basin under the tank holds at least the volume of the largest container in it, and often a margin on top for rain if the tray is outdoors. At 360 gallons this tray covers a single tank up to that size with no margin, or a smaller tank with room for rainfall and a leaking hose. The 93 by 69 inch floor takes a round tank up to roughly 69 inches in diameter with its legs or stand inside the wall, or several drums and totes side by side. The 16 inch wall is low enough to step over with a hose and high enough to hold the volume. Which tank fits is a matter of its base footprint, not its capacity; measure the base and compare it to the drawing, and if you are not sure, tell us the tank's part number and we will check. What to check before you buy
- The rule you are meeting. Your state, your insurer or your fertilizer dealer sets the containment percentage. Match the tray's 360 gallons to that number against the tank it will hold, not to the tank alone.
- The footprint. The inside of the tray is what counts. Confirm the tank's base, legs or stand fit inside the 93 by 69 inch wall with room to reach the valve.
- The liquid. Polyethylene handles water, most fertilizers and many common chemicals up to 1.5 specific gravity and 120 F. For anything aggressive, check it against the material before you order.
- Draining it. No drain fitting is factory installed. A tray that collects rain needs a plan: a pump, a drain you add, or a cover. Tell us if you want a bulkhead fitting put on the order.
- The floor. Flat and continuous. A tray spanning a joint or a slope will hold water at one end and leave the tank sitting unevenly.
