The Norwesco 1500 gallon hauling water storage tank with low profile design in white, part number 41392, is a polyethylene tank 130 inches long, 81 inches wide and 44 inches tall, weighing 465 lb empty. The shape is the point: 1500 gallons spread wide and low on a flatbed or gooseneck, so the centre of gravity stays close to the deck and the rig corners like a trailer rather than a boat. Hauling water, and storing it
This is the tank for hauling water to a well-less house, stock on dry pasture, a drilling or construction site, a vineyard or an orchard in a dry year, and for keeping a fire reserve where the truck can reach. At 130 by 81 inches it covers most of an 8 foot wide deck, and at 44 inches tall it keeps the load low. Full, the water alone is 12510 lb, so the trailer's axles, tires and hitch rating, and the truck's towing rating, are the real limits; size the rig to the full tank, not the empty one. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of hose on the trailer so the fitting carries water, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hydrant hose, to drop a float in and to get a hand and a brush inside. The vent lets air in as the pump draws, so leave it clear and keep the lid on while moving.
- Drawing. Norwesco's drawing for this tank, linked under Technical Drawing on this page, shows the outlet and manway positions and the footprint for placing straps and bolsters.
Strap across the tank at the moulded recesses, never over the manway, and travel with the tank either full or empty where you can; a half load moves more than a full one.
