This tank is shaped for a building. At a little under seven feet on a side and 69 inches tall it stands in a service bay, a lube room, a fleet shop or the back of a quick-lube without anybody looking up at it: a person of ordinary height reaches the top, reads the gauge from the floor and gets the lid off without a platform, and the tank passes under the door header, the sprinkler line and the light row that a taller vessel would fight. Used oil is collected on site rather than brought in on a truck, which changes where the tank goes: near the pit, the drain pans and the door the vacuum truck can reach, not in the far corner where the space happened to be free. The floor has to be right, because the plan is square and the load is concentrated: a flat, continuous, level bearing surface under the whole 80.5 inch square, on a slab or a structural deck, with nothing bridging a floor joint and nothing packed under a corner. Empty it is a forklift move; full it is several tons on a floor that was poured for vehicles rather than for point loads, so spend five minutes with whoever owns the building before the order. Openings, the gauge and what to confirm

1. Manway. An 18 inch lid and manway on top, wide enough to pour from drain pans, to drop a suction wand in, and to get a hand inside to clean.
