Snyder Industries 130 Gallon ASTM Black Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank

Small, narrow and dark

A 29 inch circle and a height of 49 inches make this a tank that goes where larger ones cannot: through many interior doorways on a hand truck, into a basement or a utility room, onto the back of a small trailer, or into the corner of a greenhouse. Measure your clear door width before you order. The top is around chest height, so filling and looking inside happen from the floor.

Black keeps light out of the tank. That is what stops algae in stored water and what protects liquids that sunlight breaks down, so black is the choice for a tank outdoors, in a greenhouse, or in a room with windows. It also gathers heat in direct sun, and the service limit is 120 F, so keep it shaded in hot weather. For rainwater, grey water or condensate, our guide to reuse water storage shows where a small black tank fits.

The heavy duty wall with its 1.9 rating takes liquids nearly twice as dense as water. Check anything other than water in our chemical compatibility guide first. For an outdoor reserve in a cold climate, the rural water reserve and freeze protection guide covers winter.

What to check before you buy

1. The floor. Full of a 1.9 liquid it is over a ton on a 29 inch circle. Indoors, that belongs on a slab unless the floor has been checked; outdoors, see our concrete pad sizing guide.
2. Openings. No outlet or manway size is stated for this tank on this page. Tell us the connections you need and we will confirm the openings from Snyder's drawing before it ships.
3. Level. You will not see the liquid through a black wall; plan a sight tube or gauge.
4. Headroom inside. Do not fill to the brim; our note on freeboard and usable volume explains how much space to leave.
5. Drawing. Snyder's drawing for 1009500N51 is linked under Technical Drawing on this page.

Check the volume with the tank sizing calculator and the tank sizing guide.
