The Snyder 4600 Gallon Cone Bottom Tank with Stand is a full-drain vessel for process and batching work where you need the tank to empty completely between runs. Molded in natural white polyethylene with a 1.7 specific gravity rating, it stands 154 inches tall on a 102-inch diameter footprint and ships with an integrated stand that holds the cone off the ground so gravity does the draining for you. The tank carries an FDA-approved resin and is rated to a maximum operating temperature of 100° F / 37° C. Access is through an 18-inch threaded vented manway up top, and empty the tank weighs 1,280 pounds.

Will it work for your job

Size the load before you buy. Filled with water this tank carries about 38,364 pounds; at its full 1.7 specific gravity rating it can hold roughly 65,219 pounds of contents. Read that 65,219-pound figure as a ceiling, not headroom — it reflects contents at the full 1.7 SG limit, and you should not exceed it. The gap between water weight and rated contents weight is the whole point of the 1.7 rating: it lets you run denser chemistry than plain water. Confirm your stand pad and anchoring are engineered for the loaded figure, not the empty 1,280-pound shell. Run your numbers through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide, and if you are still deciding on the support structure, our stand selection decision tree and Snyder stand compatibility matrix walk through steel frame versus poly stand tradeoffs.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is polyethylene rated at 1.7 specific gravity. Our records do not yet confirm HDLPE versus XLPE (cross-linked) — verify that before any chemical service by calling 866-418-1777, because cross-linked resin changes what you can safely store. Within its 1.7 rating and per the Snyder Industries OEM chemical resistance chart, this tank suits acetic acid (60%), aluminum sulfate (50%), calcium chloride (40%), DEF (32.5%), ferrous sulfate (20%), magnesium chloride (30%), sodium carbonate (30%), urea solution (50%), and ozonated water (up to 10 PPM, reference page on request). Match fittings to the chemical: PVC or PP bodies with EPDM gaskets cover most of these, while DEF calls for 316SS fittings with EPDM. All chart readings are concentration- and temperature-specific, so verify your exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and fitting and gasket materials against the OEM chart and our Chemical Compatibility Database.

The mistake to avoid

Do not spec this 1.7 tank for heavier chemistry that needs a higher-rated shell. Chemicals like sulfuric acid (98%), sodium hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid (37%), ferric chloride (50%), hydrogen peroxide (50%), phosphoric acid (85%), peracetic acid (30%), and ethylene glycol require a 1.9 specific gravity tank — putting them in this 1.7 vessel over-stresses the wall. Several also step up the wetted materials: Viton gaskets in place of EPDM, CPVC fittings for sulfuric acid, and an Aflas gasket with 316SS for peracetic acid. If your chemistry is on that heavier list, call us and we will point you to the right 1.9-rated cone bottom instead.
