Will it work for your application?

Chemical compatibility

This tank is molded in polyethylene (resin coded HDLPE?) at a 1.5 SG rating. Because the resin code carries a question mark, confirm whether this is HDLPE (high-density linear) or XLPE (cross-linked) with us at 866-418-1777 before putting it into chemical service - the distinction drives long-term chemical resistance, and it is the blocking step before any aggressive acid or oxidizer duty. Within the 1.5 SG band, the following are compatible per the Snyder chemical-resistance chart at the listed concentration, and chart ratings are concentration- and temperature-specific: Acetic Acid (60%, PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets); Aluminum Sulfate (50%, PVC, EPDM); Calcium Chloride (40%, PVC, EPDM); DEF (32.5%, 316SS fittings, EPDM); Ferrous Sulfate (20%, PVC, EPDM); Magnesium Chloride (30%, PVC, EPDM); Sodium Carbonate (30%, PVC, EPDM); and Urea Solution (50%, PP/PVC, EPDM). Note the wetted-component outliers: tank rating is not the same as fitting rating. DEF needs 316SS fittings, not PVC, and most of these chemicals run EPDM gaskets - match your gasket and fitting material to the chemical, not just the tank. The mistake to avoid: confirm SG before you fill

The biggest error on a cone bottom tank is overrunning the 1.5 SG rating. Heavier chemicals require a 1.9 SG tank instead, so do not put any of these in this tank: Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Peracetic Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Bisulfate, Sodium Bisulfite, Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Thiosulfate, Sulfuric Acid, and Zinc Orthophosphate. Several of these are doubly disqualifying because they also call for Viton or CPVC wetted parts rather than EPDM/PVC: Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, and Sulfuric Acid (CPVC) and Sodium Hypochlorite (Viton), while Peracetic Acid needs 316SS with Aflas gaskets - never reuse a 1.5 SG tank or standard EPDM/PVC gaskets for those.
