The Norwesco 30 Gallon 57 Degree Cone Bottom Inductor Tank (SKU N-42065) is a 1.5 specific-gravity polyethylene cone tank built for batching, mixing, and inducting chemicals into a process line. It stands 28 inches tall on a 24 x 24-inch footprint, holds 30 gallons, and its steep 57-degree cone bottom is what makes it an inductor tank: concentrated chemistries and undissolved solids slide down and clear the cone instead of packing the bottom, where a shallower cone would let them settle. Below we cover the three things that decide a cone-bottom inductor purchase: whether it fits your chemical and your stand, how it ships, and the one mistake that ruins these tanks in chemical service.

Will it work for your application?

This is a cone bottom tank rated to a 1.5 specific gravity, meaning it is engineered to safely hold contents weighing up to 1.5 times the weight of water. Filled with plain water the tank carries about 250 lb; at its 1.5 SG rating it is built for up to roughly 375 lb of contents. Use those numbers to size your stand and any drum-rack or induction frame before you mount it - a cone-bottom tank must sit in a support structure that carries the full loaded weight, since the cone provides no flat base of its own. If you are unsure how 30 gallons maps to your batch volume, run the figures through our Tank Sizing Calculator or read the Tank Sizing Guide. The technical drawing on this page shows the cone angle, overall height, and fitting locations - confirm those against your stand and plumbing before ordering.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is molded from polyethylene with a 1.5 specific-gravity rating. The resin is listed as HDLPE in our data but flagged for confirmation - confirm HDLPE versus crosslinked (XLPE) construction with us before you commit this tank to chemical service, because the two resins do not share the same compatibility profile. Note that this tank ships without fittings or gaskets specified, so you must source the bulkhead, valve, and gasket materials to match your chemistry from the pairings below. At its 1.5 SG rating, paired with the correct fitting and gasket materials, this tank suits the following chemistries (concentrations shown):

Several common process chemicals are heavier than this tank is rated for and require a 1.9 specific-gravity tank instead of this 1.5 SG model - including Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Phosphoric Acid, Sodium Hypochlorite, and Sulfuric Acid. Several of those also drive a gasket change: the oxidizers and strong acids - Sodium Hypochlorite, Hydrogen Peroxide, Hydrochloric Acid, Phosphoric Acid, and Hydrofluoric Acid - need Viton rather than EPDM, and Peracetic Acid needs Aflas. If your target chemistry is on that heavier list, this is not the right tank: the correct product is the 1.9 SG equivalent. Call 866-418-1777 and we will spec it with you. Every compatibility call here is concentration- and temperature-specific, so verify your exact concentration and operating temperature against the OEM chemical-resistance chart and our Chemical Compatibility Database before filling.

Freight and how to order

Norwesco molds the cone bottom inductor line at plants across the country, and this tank ships LTL freight from the location nearest you - including Burnet, TX, Fairfield, TX, Griffin, GA, Hanford, CA, Lancaster, OH, Owego, NY, Shawnee, OK, Sheldon, IA, St. Bonifacius, MN, Tooele, UT, and Washougal, WA. Freight is quoted live to your ZIP code rather than included in the listed price. Get an exact number through our Freight Cost Estimator, and if you want help matching cone angle, gallonage, and fittings to your batch process, compare against guides like our 15 gallon cone bottom inductor buyer's guide or the 35 gallon version. Questions on resin confirmation, fittings, or freight? Call 866-418-1777 and we will spec it with you before you buy.
