Will it work for your application?
This is a chemical-service cone tank, not a potable water vessel. Filled with water it carries roughly 125 lb; at its 1.5 SG rating the maximum rated contents weight is about 188 lb, so size your stand, scale, or skid for the loaded number, not the empty shell. The cone geometry means it must sit in a matching stand or frame - a cone-bottom tank does not stand on its own. A common use for this size and shape is DEF and urea-solution batching: the steep cone drains the inductor clean between mixes, and both DEF at 32.5% and urea solution at 50% fall inside its 1.5 SG rating (more on materials below). Chemical compatibility
The tank carries a 1.5 specific gravity rating. Confirm the exact tank resin with us before committing this tank to chemical service - the wrong resin is the most expensive mistake on a cone tank. At the 1.5 SG rating, the following are compatible when you match the fitting and gasket materials shown: Acetic Acid (60%, PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets), Aluminum Sulfate (50%, PVC, EPDM), Calcium Chloride (40%, PVC, EPDM), DEF (32.5%, 316SS, EPDM), Ferrous Sulfate (20%, PVC, EPDM), Magnesium Chloride (30%, PVC, EPDM), Sodium Carbonate (30%, PVC, EPDM), Urea Solution (50%, PP/PVC, EPDM), and Ozonated Water (up to 10 PPM, PVC, EPDM - no dedicated page yet, so call us to confirm at your PPM and temperature). Across this 1.5-SG list the pattern is straightforward: PVC or PP/PVC fittings with EPDM gaskets handle nearly everything, so a standard PVC bulkhead plus EPDM seal kit covers most of the list - DEF is the one exception, calling for 316SS fittings. Chemicals that need a higher-SG tank
Several common process chemicals exceed what a 1.5 SG tank should hold and require a 1.9 specific gravity tank instead - do not run them in this one. Those include Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Peracetic Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Bisulfate, Sodium Bisulfite, Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Thiosulfate, Sulfuric Acid, and Zinc Orthophosphate. The upgrade is more than the tank wall: the oxidizers and strong acids on this list generally need Viton gaskets rather than EPDM (with Aflas and 316SS for peracetic acid, and CPVC for sulfuric acid), so plan the fitting and gasket train accordingly.
