Who buys the heavier 300
Buy on weight when the duty is hard: a tank that is refilled daily rather than seasonally, a tank that stands in a bay where forklifts and carts pass, a tank holding something near the top of the 1.5 rating, or a tank that will be moved between jobs. Thirty-five inches across goes through a wide door standing up, and 79 inches tall clears most ceilings with a hand's room above the lid. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads, kept under 120 F. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a tank with a higher rating; tell us the liquid and we will point you at it. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top: a fill hose, a float switch and a hand with a brush go through it. If you need a full manway for a submersible pump, the standard 300 gallon tank of this size has one. The vent lets air in as the tank drains; never plug it.
