Where it goes
Three hundred gallons is a day or two of household water on a slow well, a week of nutrient for a greenhouse range, a rinse reserve for a sprayer, or the bulk tank a tote fills in one go in a treatment room. At 35 inches across it goes through a wide door standing up, but at 86 inches tall it is a tall, narrow tank: measure the ceiling, the door header if you plan to walk it in upright, and the room you need above the manway to fill it. On a tank this tall a fixed fill line usually beats a hose over the top. The base must be flat, continuous and level out to the full 35 inch edge, with nothing packed under one side; a rotomolded floor bears on whatever touches it. A tall, narrow tank is also the one to strap to a wall or a frame before the first fill. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads, kept under 120 F. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavier rated tank rather than this one; tell us the liquid and we will point you at the right one. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a siphon tube, factory installed. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, to drop a float or a submersible pump in, and to get a hand and a brush inside to clean. The vent lets air in as the tank drains; never plug it.
