The 3900 Gallon 30 Degree Plastic Cone Bottom Tank from Snyder Industries is a 3,900-gallon white polyethylene cone-bottom tank rated to 1.5 specific gravity, built for full-drain handling of process liquids and treatment chemicals. It stands 179.75 inches tall on a 90 x 90 inch footprint, and the 30-degree cone discharges completely to the outlet so solids and slurries do not settle in a flat sump. On that 90 x 90 inch footprint at 179.75 inches tall, plan the support stand and pad for the full 48,789 lb rated load, and work from the loaded weights in the spec table on this page.

Will it work for your application?

At 1.5 specific gravity, this tank is rated for contents up to roughly 12.5 pounds per gallon, and the published maximum rated contents weight is 48,789 pounds. Filled with plain water it carries 32,526 pounds. Those two numbers matter: confirm your liquid's specific gravity before you buy, because the 1.5 rating is the ceiling. If your chemical sits at or under 1.5 SG, this tank handles it; if it runs heavier, you need the higher-rated version covered below. A cone-bottom tank also requires a stand or steel support structure to hold the cone off the ground, so factor that into your install. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to match capacity and weight to your process.

Chemical compatibility

This is a polyethylene (tank resin HDLPE?) tank rated to 1.5 specific gravity. Because the resin designation is unconfirmed, verify HDLPE versus XLPE with us at 866-418-1777 before committing the tank to chemical service - crosslinked and linear polyethylene behave differently with certain media. The compatibility below is concentration- and temperature-specific; always cross-check against the OEM chemical-resistance chart for your exact conditions, and confirm against our Chemical Compatibility Database.

At the 1.5 SG rating, this tank is suited to the following, with the fitting and gasket materials shown. It is commonly specced for DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) storage at 32.5% with 316SS fittings and EPDM gaskets. Beyond that it handles Acetic Acid at 60% (PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets), Aluminum Sulfate at 50% (PVC, EPDM), Calcium Chloride at 40% (PVC, EPDM), Ferrous Sulfate at 20% (PVC, EPDM), Magnesium Chloride at 30% (PVC, EPDM), Sodium Carbonate at 30% (PVC, EPDM), Urea Solution at 50% (PP/PVC, EPDM), and Ozonated Water up to 10 PPM (PVC, EPDM). Match the fitting and gasket material to your chemical, not just the tank.

Some chemicals are not appropriate for this 1.5 SG tank and require a higher 1.9 SG-rated tank instead: Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrochloric Acid (Viton gaskets), Hydrofluoric Acid (Viton), Hydrofluosilicic Acid (Viton), Hydrogen Peroxide (Viton), Peracetic Acid (316SS, Aflas), Phosphoric Acid (Viton), Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Bisulfate, Sodium Bisulfite, Sodium Hypochlorite (Viton), Sodium Thiosulfate, Sulfuric Acid (CPVC, Viton), and Zinc Orthophosphate. Note the gasket step-up - those heavier-SG chemicals frequently demand Viton or Aflas gaskets, not the EPDM that covers most 1.5-SG media. If you are storing one of these, call us and we will spec the correct tank.
