The Snyder Industries 3900 Gallon XLPE Cone Bottom Tank is a crosslinked polyethylene tank built for full-drain chemical service, rated to 1.5 specific gravity in natural white. It measures 90 x 90 inches across the base, stands 180 inches tall, and holds 3,900 gallons. The cone-bottom geometry empties to the centerline outlet so batch chemistry, settling, and total-discharge mixing all work without a sump pump or manual scraping. If you are sizing a cone tank, the XLPE wall and 1.5 SG rating are what separate this from a water-only vessel.

Will it work for your chemical?

Confirm two numbers before you commit: your fluid's specific gravity and its compatibility with crosslinked polyethylene. This tank is rated to 1.5 SG, so anything heavier than that needs a higher-rated tank, not this one. The 90 x 90 inch footprint and 180-inch height define the pad and overhead clearance you need, so check the technical drawing on this page for the cone angle and outlet position before you pour concrete or order a stand. Fitting and manway schedule is configured per order — confirm outlet size, vents, and bulkhead fittings with us before purchase at 866-418-1777. For sizing across a cone tank family, the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide walk through capacity-to-footprint tradeoffs.

Weight and support

This is where cone-bottom installs go wrong. Filled with water at 1.0 SG the tank carries 32,526 lb; loaded to its full 1.5 SG rating the contents reach 48,789 lb. A cone bottom transfers all of that into a stand or structural ring, not a flat slab, so the stand has to be matched to the 90 x 90 inch footprint and the rated load. The Cone Bottom Tank Stand Compatibility Matrix covers Snyder stand fitment, and for level monitoring on a tall cone the tank level gauge selection guide compares radar, ultrasonic, hydrostatic, and magnetostrictive for chemical duty.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is XLPE rated to 1.5 specific gravity. Verify your chemical against the Snyder OEM chemical-resistance chart at your exact concentration and operating temperature before you fill it. All confirmed-compatible chemicals below use EPDM gaskets; fitting material varies — note that DEF requires 316SS, not PVC like the rest. Confirmed compatible at this resin and SG:

The mistake to avoid: assuming this 1.5 SG tank covers your whole chemical list. Several common chemicals exceed its rating and require the 1.9 SG version of this tank instead — Ethylene Glycol (details), Ferric Chloride (details), Ferric Sulfate (details), Hydrofluosilicic Acid (details, the only chemical here that needs Viton gaskets, not EPDM), Polyaluminum Chloride (details), Potassium Carbonate (details), Potassium Hydroxide (details), Propylene Glycol (details), and Sodium Thiosulfate (details). Do not store any of these in this 1.5 SG tank. Full concentration-and-temperature data lives in our Chemical Compatibility Database.
