The Norwesco 85 Gallon Inductor Tank with Stand Combo (SKU N-40353) pairs a closed-top cone-bottom polyethylene tank with its matched stand, so you can drain and mix from a raised, fully supported cone. It holds 85 gallons, stands 62" tall on a 30" x 30" footprint (30" diameter tank), and weighs 64 lb empty. The tank comes with a 2" outlet at the cone tip and a 16" lid up top, carries a specific gravity rating of 1.5, and is built from FDA-approved white polyethylene. Max service temperature is 120 F / 48 C.

Will it work for your job

The cone-bottom, closed-top geometry is built for inductor and batch-mixing duty where you want complete drainage through the 2" bottom outlet and a covered top to keep contents clean. Size it by weight, not just volume: filled with water the tank alone carries 709 lb, and at its full 1.5 specific-gravity rating it can hold up to 1,063 lb of contents. Confirm the stand and your floor are rated for that loaded weight before you fill. The 16" lid gives you fill and inspection access, and the 30" diameter footprint keeps the stand compact. Run the numbers through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide, and if you're specifying top penetrations for vent, fill, and level, our tank top fitting placement guide walks the layout. See the technical drawing on this page for exact dimensions. Because this is a stand-combo SKU, our stand selection decision tree and Norwesco, Snyder, and Enduraplas stand compatibility matrix show how the combo stand compares to steel-frame options.

Chemical compatibility

This is a polyethylene tank rated to 1.5 specific gravity. The resin is recorded as HDLPE but not yet confirmed — verify HDLPE versus XLPE with us before committing it to chemical service, since the two behave differently against oxidizers. Compatibility below is drawn from the Snyder Industries OEM chemical-resistance chart and is concentration- and temperature-specific; confirm your exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and fitting plus gasket materials before ordering.

At this tank's 1.5 SG rating, the chart supports acetic acid (60%), aluminum sulfate (50%), calcium chloride (40%), DEF (32.5%), ferrous sulfate (20%), magnesium chloride (30%), sodium carbonate (30%), urea solution (50%), and ozonated water (up to 10 PPM). Most of these call for PVC or PP fittings with EPDM gaskets; DEF wants 316SS fittings with EPDM. DEF and urea clear with margin to spare — both need only a 1.35 SG tank, and this unit is rated to 1.5.

Here is the mistake to avoid: several common chemicals need a higher specific-gravity tank than this 1.5-rated unit. Sulfuric acid (98%), hydrochloric acid (37%), sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide (50%), ferric chloride (50%), phosphoric acid (85%), ethylene glycol, and potassium hydroxide all require a 1.9 SG tank — don't put them in this one. The gasket and fitting materials also step up: sulfuric acid at 98% needs CPVC fittings with a Viton gasket, and peracetic acid (30%) needs 316SS fittings with an Aflas gasket, not standard PVC/EPDM. Rather than dead-end your project, call 866-418-1777 and we'll spec the correct 1.9-rated tank (confirming XLPE where needed) with the right fitting and gasket materials. Check your chemical against the full Chemical Compatibility Database first.

This tank ships LTL freight from the nearest Norwesco plant to you — for most orders that's Sheldon, IA — with the cost quoted live to your ZIP through our Freight Cost Estimator. For help confirming resin, sizing the stand, or verifying chemical service, call 866-418-1777.
