The Enduraplas 500 Gallon Green Horizontal Sump Bottom Leg Tank is a transport-ready vessel built for hauling dense liquid on a trailer or skid. It measures 80 in long by 57 in wide by 48 in tall, riding on a 57 x 80 in footprint that sits low and stable. The molded polyethylene body carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating, so it is engineered for liquids well heavier than plain water. The integral sump bottom drains toward a low point, which is exactly what you want when you need to empty the tank fully between loads of fertilizer, water, or a process chemical.

Will it work for your load?

Sizing is the first thing to get right. Filled with water, this 500 gallon tank weighs roughly 4,170 lb. Because it is rated to 1.9 specific gravity, the manufacturer allows a maximum rated contents weight of 7,923 lb. Divide that ceiling by 500 gallons and you get about 15.8 lb per gallon of headroom, which means this tank already covers any liquid up to the full 1.9 SG rating. If you are hauling a 1.4 SG fertilizer blend, you are comfortably inside spec. Stay under the 7,923 lb number and confirm your trailer, leg structure, and tie-down rating support the loaded weight before you run a route. The horizontal leg design keeps the center of gravity low for transport, but the contents weight still drives every decision about axles and suspension. Run your numbers through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before you commit. This pack does not include outlet sizes or thread data, so confirm the sump drain size and fitting locations against the technical drawing on this page, or call 866-418-1777 and we will confirm them with you.

Chemical compatibility

This is a polyethylene tank with a 1.9 specific gravity rating. The resin code on file is not fully resolved, so confirm HDLPE versus crosslinked (XLPE) for your specific liquid before putting any chemical into service, since the two resins resist different chemistries. The chemicals below are workable in a 1.9 SG poly tank when paired with the correct fitting and gasket materials. On a sump-bottom tank the drain is the critical wetted joint, sitting at the lowest point under full static head, so it is where a mismatched gasket fails first. Match the hardware at that drain to your chemistry, and always verify against the OEM chemical-resistance chart for your exact concentration and temperature, because compatibility is concentration- and temperature-specific:

For the full picture across every chemical, start at the chemical compatibility center.

The mistake to avoid

The most common error on a 1.9 SG haul tank is matching the right tank with the wrong wetted hardware at the sump drain. The body resin is only half the equation; the fittings and gaskets at that low-point drain have to survive the same liquid under full head. Sulfuric acid at 98% needs CPVC fittings and Viton gaskets, not the EPDM that works fine for sodium carbonate. DEF and peracetic acid call for 316 stainless. Picking the gasket off habit instead of off the resistance chart is what turns a good tank into a leaking one. If you are hauling fertilizer, read the agricultural and DOT context in our guides on applicator and leg tanks for fertilizer, portable utility tanks under 49 CFR 173.5, and fertilizer-blend tank stratification.

This tank ships LTL freight from the single Enduraplas plant in Neche, ND, near the Canadian border, with the rate quoted live to your ZIP. For Southern and Plains buyers that is a long lane, so quote your ZIP before you commit rather than guess at checkout.
