A 425 gallon white leg tank for a truck bed, a trailer or a skid
The Norwesco 425 gallon horizontal leg tank in white, part number 42016, is a polyethylene transport and storage tank 60 inches long, 49 inches wide and 54 inches tall, weighing 119 lb empty. It is a short, tall leg tank: the footprint fits a pickup bed or a compact trailer, and the height is where the capacity comes from. The moulded legs let it sit flat on a deck or a skid without a cradle, and the white wall shows the level through the side in daylight. It comes with a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting as the outlet and a 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. On a truck, a trailer or the ground
At 60 by 49 inches the tank fits across a full size pickup bed or a compact trailer, but at 54 inches tall it stands well above the bed rails and carries its weight high, so it belongs against the front of the bed or over the trailer axle, strapped through the leg recesses and never over the manway, with the two optional support bands, part number 60057, over the body and fastened to the deck when it travels. Full, it weighs close to two tons with water and more with fertilizer, which is past the payload of most half ton pickups, so check the door jamb sticker before the tank goes on. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Before anything else goes in, check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide; the entries for urea solution, DEF, calcium chloride, sodium hypochlorite and sulfuric acid are the ones leg tank buyers ask about most. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank, not this one. White lets light in, so water that sits for weeks will grow algae; the black version linked below is the one for stored water. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the end wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, to drop a float in, and to get a hand and a brush inside to clean. The vent lets air in as the pump draws down, so keep it clear.
- Bands. Two optional support bands, Norwesco part 60057, hold the tank to a deck. Order them with the tank if it will travel.
